Description:

Continual innovation from outside the space industry as well as within- promises to make future spaceflight more cost effective, more reliable and safer than merely relying on current technology.

Innovative ideas and technologies that could enhance future space exploration missions may already exist at various stages of development. Whether these technologies are located at small companies, university labs or other locations, it's important to find them and support their development.

Some innovations and technologies necessary for further exploration of space may not yet exist. By participating in NASA iTech, universities, small businesses and inventors that have adjacent technologies will reveal opportunities to re-vector collaborative resources to mature these technologies for humankind's next greatest mission beyond Earth orbit.

NASA iTech brings notable benefits for innovators who submit their ideas:

CONNECTIONS

All eligible submissions for NASA iTech's unique energy cycle are being reviewed by a panel of energy experts assembled by NASA iTech. The top 25 energy solutions for 2018 NASA iTech Cycle II Energy will be recognized as semifinalists on May 10, 2018, and moved forward for further evaluation by NASA's Chief Technologists and ARPA-E.

The Top 10 finalists will be announced on May 25, 2018. These top 10 innovators will present to NASA, ARPA-E, subject matter experts, space industry partners, and potential investors at the 2018 NASA iTech Cycle II Energy Forum to be held at Citi's Global Headquarters in New York City, June 11-14, 2018.

RECOGNITION

The top ten innovators will be invited to present their concepts in person to NASA, ARPA-E, subject matter experts, space industry partners, and potential investors at the 2018 NASA iTech Cycle II Energy Forum.

The top three solutions will be selected and recognized in a non-monetary awards ceremony at the culmination of the Forum, and will be mentored after the forum to help ensure success in bringing their innovations to market

Past winners have participated in prestigious events, such as serving on innovation-themed panels at the Space Technology & Investment Forum in San Francisco, California and the annual Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado."
