Join our Introduction to Ceramics class! This 2-hour, 5-week-long class is designed for beginners who are interested in learning the art of pottery using the slab roller, hand building, and throwing on the wheel. Wheel throwing is a traditional method of forming clay into shapes, using a potter’s wheel to spin the clay while you shape it with your hands and tools.
During this class, you will learn the basics of each skill including, trimming and finishing, and glazing techniques. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the process step by step, so you can create your own unique and beautiful pieces of pottery.
You will also learn about the different types of clay and glazes, and how to choose the right ones for your projects. Our studio is equipped with a variety of tools and equipment that you will use during class, including pottery wheels, kilns, and a range of hand tools.
Whether you’re interested in making functional pieces like bowls and mugs, or more decorative items like vases and sculptures, this class will provide you with the skills and techniques you need to create your own beautiful pottery.
