Assembly announced their 2023 Changemakers in Residence. This year, the Changemaker Residency Program was launched to support individuals and organizations that foster community and nurture local culture through creativity and innovation. Out of a multitude of applicants, six change agents were chosen to form the inaugural class.
Residents will enjoy access to the entire campus of workspaces and shared amenities, as well as the use of the event space for mission-aligned activities. They will also have ample opportunities to connect and collaborate with fellow tenants and members.
Without further ado, let’s introduce the change agents.
Brenten Sims: A creative author and community advocate, Brenten founded Black Boy Joy Fest, an organization dedicated to connecting men of color with resources and creative avenues for healing and wellness.
Keena Carson: A seasoned media strategist and entrepreneur, Keena established Creatives for Virginia, a non-profit that advocates for creative entrepreneurs and fosters a thriving creative economy in Virginia.
Kip Poole: A culinary extraordinaire, Kip created The Crop Foundation to provide culinary work experiences and education for local youth interested in culinary, agriculture, and related fields.
Dr. Sheetal Ajmani: A trained physician focused on well-being and recovery, Dr. Sheetal founded the Radiant Living Institute, which offers classes and workshops that blend ayurveda, yoga, mindfulness, positive psychology, and science for lasting lifestyle changes.
Theodore “Theo” Jamison: A hip-hop artist, songwriter, and creative, Theo established Aspire To Inspire Music Group, a boutique music entertainment company that promotes the mission and motto “Virginia Talks Different.”
Tremaine Etheridge: The founder of PHOND, Tremaine’s mission is to build vertically integrated communities driven by creativity, ideas, and innovation, while providing exposure and opportunities to local creatives through unique brand marketing.
Assembly is a purpose-built space for a curated community of like-minded professionals, startups, and freelancers who share energy, inspiration, and resources. The facility offers over 15,000 square feet of shared common spaces and amenities, including a rooftop deck, meeting rooms, a wellness room, and more. Through regular events and programming, Assembly supports and inspires a regional community of creators and technology innovators, strengthening the city and advancing industries.
