Hey, Hampton Roads! Picture this: your small business or nonprofit gets a top-tier cybersecurity glow-up—for free—while helping the next wave of cyber warriors sharpen their skills. That’s the magic brewing at the COVA CCI Cybersecurity Internship Clinic, a powerhouse collab between Old Dominion University (ODU) and Valor Cybersecurity, kicking off in September 2025 for the fall semester.
Here’s the scoop: this isn’t just another boring program. It’s a 15-week, hands-on mission where ODU’s brightest cybersecurity students dive into your world to assess your digital defenses. Think risk posture, preparedness, and all the stuff that keeps hackers at bay—delivered straight to micro and small businesses, nonprofits, and local agencies across Hampton Roads. Around week eight, you’ll meet your student squad (in person or via Zoom), and by the end, they’ll drop a pro-level out-brief right at ODU’s campus.
Why should you care? Beyond the freebie (who doesn’t love that?), it’s a chance to level up your cyber know-how—crucial if your online presence is more “vibes” than “vault.” Plus, you’re fueling real-world experience for students chasing cybersecurity careers AND building ties with pros in the field. It’s a win-win-win stitched into the fabric of our region’s entrepreneurial spirit.
Spots are open now for the Fall 2025 cohort, and the clock’s ticking to snag yours. Hit up the application form here or peek at the deets and a slick explainer video on the COVA CCI site. Got questions? Slide into their inbox at covacci@odu.edu.
Back in September 2024, we shouted about ODU’s spring clinic, and now the fall edition’s ready to roll. This is Hampton Roads innovation in action—where education meets hustle, and local orgs get a cyber edge. Don’t sleep on this one.
