757 Accelerate, a premier startup accelerator in Hampton Roads, has announced a significant shift in its program schedule. Traditionally held in the fall, the accelerator’s annual program will now commence in the spring, with applications for Cohort 8 currently open and the program set to begin in April 2025.

This strategic change is driven by an exciting development: 757 Accelerate has secured funding from the U.S. Navy to launch the region’s first Defense Accelerator, scheduled for the fall of 2025. This initiative aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship within the defense sector, aligning with the region’s strong military presence and expertise.

757 Accelerate Spring Schedule:

  • Now through January 25, 2025: Applications Open
  • January 2025: Live Information Sessions
  • February through March 2025: Downselect, Vetting, and Interviews
  • Mid-April through June 2025: 9-Week Cohort Program
  • Late June: Investor Roadshow

The upcoming Cohort 8 will benefit from 757 Accelerate’s established mentorship-driven, milestone-based program, designed to accelerate the growth of innovative startups. Participants will receive $20,000 in non-dilutive capital, access to a network of over 100 mentors and subject matter experts, and opportunities to connect with investors through a multi-city roadshow.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend the live information sessions in January to gain insights into the program and application process. These sessions provide a platform to engage with program leaders and alumni, offering valuable perspectives on the accelerator experience.

The forthcoming Defense Accelerator represents a significant advancement for the region’s innovation ecosystem. By focusing on defense-related startups, 757 Accelerate aims to harness local expertise and contribute to national security initiatives. Details about the Defense Accelerator will be shared as they become available, underscoring 757 Accelerate’s commitment to fostering sector-specific innovation.

This dual-program approach not only enhances opportunities for entrepreneurs in Hampton Roads but also reinforces the region’s position as a hub for innovation and defense-related ventures. By adapting its schedule to accommodate both the traditional accelerator program and the new Defense Accelerator, 757 Accelerate continues to drive economic growth and technological advancement in the community.
