Virginia is stepping up to empower its next generation of innovators and leaders through the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (VTOP), an initiative under the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). VTOP is focused on connecting college students with paid internships and work-based learning opportunities, fostering growth, experience, and preparation for life after graduation.
A key aspect of this initiative is mentorship, which has proven to be a vital ingredient in a young professional’s development. SCHEV has joined forces with Mentor Virginia (Mentor VA), an organization renowned for equipping mentors with tools to build effective and meaningful relationships. Through its “Connect, Focus, Grow” training program, Mentor VA is offering FREE sessions for those who want to help guide Virginia’s students toward success.
For entrepreneurs and professionals looking to give back and support emerging talent, this is a unique chance to make a lasting impact. Mentoring is more than offering advice; it’s about extending encouragement, providing constructive feedback, and helping students focus on their goals. With VTOP and Mentor VA’s joint efforts, the opportunity to shape the future workforce of Virginia is just a click away.
The training will be led by facilitator Chekesha White on Wednesday, October 2nd, from 3 PM to 5 PM, and it’s open to all who wish to become a guiding hand for young entrepreneurs. To reserve your spot, make sure to RSVP by September 30th and get ready to help shape the future of Virginia’s innovation landscape.
