In an exciting move to turbocharge leadership skills in our community, the Virginia Peninsula Chamber and Christopher Newport University (CNU) are thrilled to announce the launch of LEAD Higher. This innovative, year-long program empowers emerging leaders, equipping them with the tools to drive meaningful change.

Starting January 2025, the inaugural cohort will kick off, limited to 25 lucky participants. This selective program offers theoretical knowledge and hands-on insights delivered through one dedicated monthly program day. Expect dynamic instruction from top-tier CNU professors and inspiring conversations with some of the Commonwealth’s leading business minds.

“LEAD Higher is not just another leadership course; it’s a game-changer,” says Chamber President/CEO Bob McKenna. “By partnering with CNU, we’re offering something unique for the next generation of leaders in our community.”

Building on the success of the Virginia Peninsula Chamber’s LEAD Peninsula program, LEAD Higher welcomes participants from all sectors – be it business, government, non-profits, or academia. While previous participation in LEAD Peninsula is beneficial, it’s not a must. If you’re an emerging leader on the Virginia Peninsula, this program is designed for you.

Bob Colvin, CNU’s Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, underscores the program’s significance: “Developing tomorrow’s leaders requires collaboration across academia, business, and experienced professionals. We’re eager to engage with our first cohort and help shape their leadership journey.”

Graduates of LEAD Higher will earn a micro-certification, symbolizing their dedication to leadership excellence and continuous professional development – a valuable credential in today’s competitive landscape.
