Hampton Roads, Virginia – A new chapter begins at the Hampton Roads Executive Roundtable as Drew Lumpkin steps into the role of Vice President of External Affairs and Strategic Initiatives starting May 1, 2024. With a rich history of over two decades in public service and strategic policy development, Lumpkin is set to steer the Hampton Roads region towards unprecedented economic growth and innovation.
Drew Lumpkin, previously the Regional Director for U.S. Senator Mark R. Warner, has cultivated extensive expertise in navigating federal grants and funding opportunities essential for the region’s development. His background in psychology and divinity and his hands-on experience in public outreach and partnership cultivation prepare him well for this new endeavor.
The co-chair of the Hampton Roads Executive Roundtable and President of Sentara Health, Dennis Matheis, expressed enthusiasm about Lumpkin’s appointment, “Drew’s vast experience and strategic insight will be invaluable as we focus on enhancing our federal partnerships, a critical avenue for advancing regional economic growth.”
Cliff Fleet, another co-chair and President of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, also praised Lumpkin’s previous contributions, noting his ability to collaborate effectively across various sectors. “Drew’s role is pivotal in our ongoing efforts to champion economic initiatives that will bring substantial benefits to our community,” Fleet remarked.
