In an exciting new initiative by the Stafford County Economic Development Authority, together with the Town of Colonial Beach and Middlesex County Economic Development, the Smart Tech Discovery Challenge aims to harness technology, data, and connectivity to enhance community living and operational efficiencies across 15 Virginia localities.

Bridging Gaps with Innovation

Through comprehensive dialogues with local leaders and stakeholders, the partners have delineated key community challenges that are ready for innovative interventions. These areas include Air Quality, Broadband Accessibility, Healthcare, Waste Management, and Smart Mobility. This collaborative event seeks to connect public sector insights with cutting-edge private sector technologies and methodologies, fostering pilot projects and real-world applications.

Who Should Apply?

This open call invites:

  • Individuals: Visionaries looking to impact community infrastructure.
  • Entrepreneurs and Startups: Innovators ready to translate ideas into actions.
  • Companies: Established entities capable of scaling solutions.

Focus Areas for Technology Application:

  • AI and Machine Learning: For predictive analytics and intelligent system adjustments.
  • Mobile Apps for Community Engagement: To facilitate direct communication and management.

How to Engage

Submission Deadline: Proposals must be submitted by May 3, 2024, through their dedicated application site.

Evaluation and Presentation: Submissions will be rigorously reviewed by the partnering entities, with top contenders invited to present their solutions in person in Stafford, VA, on June 11-12, 2024. A stipend for travel and lodging will be provided to facilitate participation.
