The Virginia Small Business Development Center reported that they exceeded all goals for the pandemic year of April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021.  The regional teams surpassed all estimates for unique customers served, capital formation, and jobs supported. Jody Keenan, State Director for the Virginia SBDC Network, released the data to the regional SBDC directors in early April.

Jim Carroll, Executive Director SBDC of Hampton Roads stated, “while the staff of both the Hampton Roads SBDC and the VSBDC Network put forth tremendous efforts to assist our small business community, it was done in response to the very real and present dangers the pandemic presented our clients on both a personal and professional level.  To do any less would be akin to dereliction of our duty and responsibilities.”

During the pandemic, the numbers released show the Virginia SBDC served 5,745 unique customers, delivered 10,496 counseling hours, and reached $44,087,863 in capital formation.

For the Calendar Year January 1 through December 31, 2020, the Virginia SBDC teams reached 149% of their unique customer served goal, helping 8,141 people.  For the fiscal year October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021, the Virginia SBDC teams have already reached 112% of unique customers served’s goal.
