RISE builds resilience of coastal communities through innovation. Since 2019, RISE has deployed more than $3 million to 15 companies to develop, validate, and demonstrate new solutions in the living laboratory of coastal Hampton Roads, Virginia. These solutions will be scaled for use in other coastal communities.
Here are just a few of the projects now underway:
- Solutions that reroute drivers in real time to avoid flooded roads.
- Mobile manufacturing units that produce custom shoreline protection structures to mitigate flooding faster, safer, and more affordably (Natrx).
- Stormwater monitoring software and sensors providing communities with real-time tidal and storm analysis and alerts (StormSensor).
- Stormwater system that reduces nuisance flooding in constrained urban environments without massive infrastructure overhauls (InfraSGA).
RISE is developing the next $1.5M Coastal Community Resilience Challenges, and they need your help.
Is there a resilience problem currently facing your community or company? Do you have a topic idea for a RISE Challenge? If so, RISE would like to know.
